AN HONEST LOOK AT THE KDP BROWSER EXTENSION FROM IM WEALTH BUILDERS
If you publish on Amazon KDP and you use AI, you know the kind of tiredness this product is aimed at. You see a listing with promise. You copy part of the description. Open a new window. You wait for the chatbot to load. You try to recall the prompt that worked last time. You paste. You wait. You copy the response. You go back Then you do it again for the keywords. And again for the title ideas. And again for the book description.
SelfPublishPilot is designed to break that loop. It’s a browser extension that lets you highlight text on any page you’re already reading, click once and get publishing assets back without ever leaving the page.
That’s the pitch and it’s a real problem the product is solving. Whether the full funnel is worth what it costs is another question, and that is what this review is for.
WHAT SELFPUBLISHPILOT REALLY IS
SelfPublishPilot is not a book writing platform, cloud app, or membership site. It's a browser extension. You install it in your browser and then it sits beside whatever page you might be viewing.
The intended workflow is simple. You are on an Amazon product page, a review zone, a competing book page or a niche article. You indicate the part that interests you. You launch the extension. And it takes the highlighted text, runs it through an AI model with a prompt designed for a particular publishing task, and spits back the result on the same page.
The important thing to understand right away is that this is a delivery mechanism, not a new capability. All the tool does is produce something that a general AI chatbot can produce if you type in the prompt yourself. You’re paying for the fact that it cuts out steps. No tab switching, no re-pasting, no remembering what prompt structure worked.
That’s something. It’s not worth what a sales page will tell you it is. With both those things in mind, you will judge this product correctly.
WHO IS TO BE BLAME FOR IT
IM Wealth Builders is the name of the product and Matt Garrett is the launch contact. It is not an unusual process. IM Wealth Builders has been launching digital products for over a decade. Their catalog includes Covert Store Builder, Covert Video Press, Bloxy and more recently PublisherPro, Co-Author and BuzzRep.
That history goes both ways and a fair review should recognize that.
On the plus side, this is a named, established vendor with a long trading history, a real support presence and a reputation that would cost them money to damage. You’re not buying from some random account that popped up last month.
High frequency launching is the operating model here on the cautious side. We ship out new products every few weeks. The model always offers functional tools and fair refunds. It doesn't reliably give you five years of software maintenance for a one time purchase of $27. That’s more important than usual for a browser extension, and I’ll return to it.
One minor point worth mentioning, because it illustrates the cadence: the vendor’s own launch listing contains internal contradictions. The data panel calls out one launch date and time, the body copy calls out another, and the headline on the same page still has the name of a totally different product from a previous launch. Nobody had cleaned the template. It’s a small thing and not evidence of bad faith, but it is evidence of how quickly these launches are thrown together.
HOW IT WORKS
The way this family of extensions is constructed implies that the setup sequence roughly looks like this.
First you install the extension in your browser. It takes less than a minute and requires no technical know-how.
Secondly, you plug it into an AI provider. For the closely related product running on the same architecture this meant entering your own OpenAI API key once in the settings. If SelfPublishPilot is the same, this is the one single most important practical detail in the entire purchase. I'll cover that separately below.
Third, you surf normally. Amazon, Goodreads, blog posts, competitor listings, review sections, whatever you were already reading.
Fourth, you select the text you want to work from and invoke the extension.
Fifth, you choose the job. It applies a publishing specific prompt to your selection and returns the output in situ.
Sixth, you copy the result and use it. Into your manuscript notes, your KDP listing draft, your keyword sheet, your launch email.
The entire loop should take seconds, not minutes, and be done without your attention leaving the page that gave you the idea in the first place.
WHAT IT PRODUCES
The vendor produces the following outputs:

The stated audience is broad within self publishing: KDP authors, low content book sellers, children’s book creators, fiction authors, planner and journal creators, and Etsy printable sellers.
Read that output list carefully because it tells you what kind of tool this is. Everything on it is a research, planning, or listing task. None of them is the book. When it exists, it helps you decide what to write, how to write, and describe it. It doesn’t write the book, and no honest review should leave a reader with the impression that it does.
THE FRONT END BONUS BOOKPROMO PILOT
Every front-end buyer also gets BookPromoPilot which is a book marketing and Amazon Ads extension. Where SelfPublishPilot is designed to create the book, BookPromoPilot is designed to sell it.
There is a wrinkle here that is worth knowing about. BookPromoPilot is not a minor add-on. It’s a full 2nd extension and the vendor has come up with an alternate sales page that reverses the two: BookPromoPilot as the main offer, with SelfPublishPilot as the bonus.
This is just normal split testing, nothing underhanded. But it has a message for buyers. If a product can be freely moved from the paid slot into the free bonus slot, then any dollar value attached to the bonus is a marketing number and not a price. Ignore the stated bonus valuations completely. Judge the pair on their combined usefulness at the combined price.
THE TRUTH ON THE BENEFITS
Here’s what this tool will do well, or at least as long as it works as advertised.
It removes friction precisely when friction is killing momentum. Most publishing projects die a quiet death in the space between seeing a good idea and executing it. It's a genuine behavioural benefit, not just cosmetic, to close that gap from five minutes to fifteen seconds.
It observes the source material. Because you work on the page, not a separate chat window, the AI output stays anchored to the listing or review you’re actually looking at. That context is lost in copy-paste workflows all the time.
It removes the empty prompt box. A menu of ready publishing tasks is a real unlock for those who freeze up when asked to write a prompt.
It’s a one-and-done purchase rather than another monthly SaaS bill, at least on the front end.
These four benefits are real. And here’s the other half of the picture.
THE ENTIRE PURCHASE JOURNEY
This launch appears to be running one à la carte funnel. As of writing, there’s no bundle deal mentioned anywhere in the published materials, unlike many launches in this space. If there is one it will be announced on the sales page, don't assume there is one.
The path a buyer walks is as follows.
Front end: SelfPublishPilot, BookPromoPilot as an add-on. The price is listed as $37 in the vendor’s funnel documentation, but the vendor’s own public launch listing says $27. Check the live sales page before quoting any price to anyone including yourself. And dime sales are common in this space, where the price goes up as the launch window goes on.

At the high end of the front end, the total one time spend is 306.95 dollars plus 47 dollars a month if you take the club which is 564 dollars across the year. The lower front-end figure is a one-time total of $296.95.
No one has to purchase any of it. But a reader deserves to see the entire number before the first.
WHAT YOU WON'T SEE ON THE SALES PAGE
This is the important part of the review.
Sticker price isn’t always the real cost.
Buyers had to provide their own OpenAI API key for the closely related extension, which was based on the same architecture. If SelfPublishPilot is the same, then two things follow. You will need an OpenAI account with billing enabled, which is a real barrier to entry for anyone who has only used ChatGPT through its website. And "no monthly fees" is literally true but practically misleading: the vendor doesn't charge a fee, but the AI provider charges per use every time you generate something. This is really small for light use, probably a few dollars a month. And it is still not zero and not what most buyers hear when they read "one time payment." Confirm on the live page before buying.
The front end is intended to be incomplete.
It's for anyone who wants results but doesn't want to get overwhelmed with writing prompts. Upsell 4: The prompt workflow library – $37. Upsell 3 for $47 is the prompt vault. Simply put, the front end sells you the solution to prompt overwhelm, and the two offers right behind it sell you the prompts and somewhere to keep them. That’s a legitimate and very common structure, but it means a buyer who stops at the front end gets the extension plus whatever starter prompts ship with it and nothing more.
Some of the back-end offers are recycled from a previous launch.
The same vendor had released a near-identical browser extension for affiliate marketers a few months earlier, with the same highlight-and-generate mechanism. That product’s back end was a 20-niche workflow library for the same price, prompt vault for the same price, license buyout for the same price, BuzzRep and monthly extensions club. These launches are different in terms of the front-end skin and target niche. The back end is a library that’s being resold. Two practical consequences here. BuzzRep used to run as its own standalone offer for $47 so some buyers might already own the tool being offered to them again here. The monthly club looks to have gone from roughly $20 a month to $47 a month for a comparable promise.
The dependency stack is deeper than usual.
This tool relies on the policies of the browser extension store, the stability of the AI provider's API, and the readability of Amazon's page structure. All three are changing, and none of them are controlled by the vendor.” We've already seen browser extension platforms force ecosystem-wide rewrites in recent years. Models are deprecated by AI providers. Amazon can redesign product pages whenever it wants to. A one-time sale with no recurring revenue attached also provides little economic incentive for the vendor to fund years of maintenance. Buy this as a tool for the next twelve months, not as an infrastructure for five years out.
Amazon has spent two years building defences against exactly the workflow this tool speeds up.
This is the point most reviews in this niche will skip right over. Now, Amazon KDP is limiting most accounts to three new titles per day. This limit was implemented specifically to stop mass publishing operations from flooding the store. Amazon also mandates that publishers declare AI-generated text, images and translations as part of the publishing process. Content you wrote and then polished with AI is AI-assisted and does not need to be declared. Content the AI created is AI-generated and does. Things like outlines and chapters of books created by a tool like this are on the AI-generated side.
The declaration is not a sanction itself. It’s internal to Amazon, it’s not visible to shoppers on your product page and Amazon has said it does not impact royalties or ranking. The problem is that you didn’t state the content was AI – and not stating it’s AI is grounds for removal. Repeating this can become an account issue. We’ve beefed up enforcement through 2025 and 2026, including looking at automated signals like writing style, metadata, and submission speed, as well as human review. Amazon may also remove books that are properly declared but do not meet quality standards.
It is easy to synthesize. Amazon not banning AI-assisted publishing It’s penalizing low effort and capping volume. The business model this tool implicitly serves, publish fast and publish often, is precisely the model Amazon has been engineering against. The tool is most defensible in the hands of someone who is publishing fewer, better books, which is the opposite of how it will be marketed.
WHO THIS IS ACTUALLY FOR:
Get it if you’re already publishing on KDP with books live, you’re already using AI daily in your process, you’re comfortable managing an API key and its costs, and your bottleneck is truly research and listing speed rather than writing or marketing. For such a person the front end price is fair. The time saving is real.
Skip this if you haven’t published a book. A faster idea generator does not solve the beginner problem which is finish and quality. If you are not comfortable with API keys and per use billing skip it. skip if it expects to write books. And if you’re looking for a system that produces income, not a shortcut that produces drafts, skip it.
THE VERDICT
SelfPublishPilot is a competent, narrow and really sensible utility, from a vendor of established stature, at a front-end price that is defensible for the right buyer.
It’s not a “publishing business in a box”, and the funnel behind it is longer and more expensive than the price of entry suggests. The pieces that would make it a full workflow are behind $84 of upsells. The likely ongoing AI costs are real, though small. Some of the back-end offers have been previously sold under a different front-end name. And the platform it's running on has spent two years actively making the publish-fast approach more difficult.
If you see it for what it is, a friction remover that is worth perhaps an hour a week to an active publisher, it's a reasonable buy at the front end and you can decline everything after it without losing the core value. If you think of it as a way into self-publishing, you’ll be disappointed and the disappointment will cost you three hundred dollars not thirty.
Before you commit, check the live sales page for the confirmed price, the API key requirement and the refund terms. The 3 answers should decide it.
